Illinois Office of Tourism Releases OUT! Guide for LGBTQ Travel

Chicago, June 2016 The Illinois Office of Tourism, in partnership with Windy City Times, today announces the publication of its first-ever statewide LGBTQ travel guide: Out! Guide: Chicago. The 124-page guide will help visitors navigate Illinois’ LGBTQ and mainstream places to see and experience, including a wide array of attractions, restaurants, LGBTQ events and more.

The guide focuses on Chicago and its suburbs, with hundreds of sites for LGBTQ visitors, including museums, art galleries, architectural locations, theaters, dance companies, music venues, sports leagues, bookstores and more. There’s also a quick reference to travel and accommodations, and a guide to the city’s many fascinating neighborhoods.

A section on destinations outside of Chicago highlights popular outdoor destinations like Shawnee National Forest and Starved Rock State Park, as well as historical sites like the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.

This state offers such a variety of activities to inspire travel, and our guides allow us to showcase how Illinois tourism can cater to individual interests and hobbies” says Cory Jobe, Director of the Illinois Office of Tourism. “From a vibrant LGBTQ community in Chicago, to pride events in cities across the state and plenty of festivities and travel experiences, there’s so much to discover in Illinois.”
