Illinois Office of Tourism Announces 31 New Makers to Join Illinois Made Program
CHICAGO - Illinois Office of Tourism is thrilled to announce the latest businesses to join the Illinois Made program. From coffee roasters, artisan candy shops and artists to farmers, wineries, craft breweries and old fashioned soda makers, these 31 makers are attracting visitors to Illinois.
“By promoting authentic experiences through Illinois Made, we drive visitors deeper into Illinois, increasing visitor spending and generating more tax revenue for our communities,” said Cory Jobe, director of the Illinois Office of Tourism. “This latest group of artisans, creators and businesses will only add to the success of Illinois Made.”
Research shows the Illinois Made advertising campaign had a direct impact on tourism, generating nearly 21,000 hotel bookings and $7.5 million in tourism spending, from March 1 to July 31, 2017. In fact, every dollar invested in the Illinois Made campaign returned more than $18 in state tax revenue, helping grow Illinois’ economy.
Launched in 2016, Illinois Made spotlights the people, products and experiences unique to Illinois, inspiring travelers to explore off the beaten path destinations around the state. There are currently more than 100 makers in the program.
